Today is a day of Rejoicing and Thanksgiving, for on this
cold January day in 1941, a
STAR was born!!!
The wail that expelled as the oxygen entered
his lungs announced the arrival of the
World's Finest Soul Singer.
Little David began his career singing gospel
with his family. At the age of six, he began
traveling the Gospel circuit with Mahalia
Jackson, later joining the Dixie Nightingales.
His passion for singing later led him to
Detroit, Michigan, where he embarked on a
solo career.
David played drums and sang lead for a
called the Voicemasters. He was also a
drummer with The Temptations. In 1964,
The Temptations were fortunate to
have David join their group as a vocalist.
After David joined the group, The
Temptations started to soar. His first leading
song, MY GIRL, quickly zoomed to number
one. Throughout his tenure with The Tempts,
David continued to produce one masterpiece
after another. In 1968, David left The
Tempts to embark on a solo career. Although
this career was not heavily promoted, herein,
lies some of the world's greatest musical
treasures.
